Left-wing extremist incidents in India 2014-2018
According to the Indian government, there were around 833 incidents related to left-wing extremism in 2018. This comes in various forms, but largely refers to the Naxal-Maoist insurgencies in the eastern, central and southern parts. This belt was commonly known as the Red Corridor due to its communist ideologies. As of 2011, about 83 districts across ten states were known to be affected by this kind of extremism.
