In a survey conducted in 2019, 72 percent of respondents in South Korea believed that men had more opportunities in their country to be leaders in their community. Comparatively for the same survey, just two percent of respondents in Japan believed that women had more opportunities in their country to be leaders in their community. Additionally, in terms of who had more of an opportunity to be leaders in the community, 74 percent of respondents in the Philippines believed men and women in their country were equal in that respect.
