Sustainable tourism is a way of travelling that focuses on minimizing the harmful impact of tourism on the natural environment. A global survey in 2020 revealed that 52 percent of respondents stated that they believed hotel/accommodation providers were making little effort to be sustainable, while eight percent believed they were making no effort at all. That being said, 35 percent stated that they were making good progress but could do more, and five percent believed the sector were doing all they could to be sustainable. Meanwhile, 32 percent of the respondents stated that cruise companies were making no efforts to be sustainable, with 19 percent stating that they were making good progress but could do more.
