Freedom of expression score in Equatorial Guinea 2000-2023
In 2023, Equatorial Guinea scored four points in the Global Expression Report (GxR). This was slighty higher than the previous year, when the country scored three points. The country received the second worst score on the African continent in 2022, only one point higher than Eritrea. During the observed period, the country registered its highest score between 2000 and 2010 at five points which is among the lowest in the world. GxR ranks countries based on the openness of the society, with a higher score being given to countries with more freedom of expression.
