Primary energy consumption in France 2000-2022
France's primary energy consumption amounted to 8.39 exajoules in 2022, an increase of nearly 11 percent in comparison to the previous year. Nevertheless, consumption of primary energy in the European country has declined by 2.7 exajoules since the turn of the century, peaking at nearly 11.4 exajoules in 2004. Primary energy refers to energy harvested directly from natural resources, before being transformed into electricity or other secondary or tertiary energy forms. It includes both fossil fuels and renewable sources.
