Agriculture and forest land emissions worldwide 2021, by component
Enteric fermentation and net forest conversion (deforestation) were the largest sources of emissions from agricultural land in 2021, with each responsible for roughly three billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e). This accounted for more than 50 percent of global emissions on agricultural land. GHG emissions generated within the farm-gate totaled 7.8 GtCO₂e.
