Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB) networks disrupted by Meta 2017-2021
In 2021, among all the disrupted Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB) networks removed from Meta platforms during the year, 64 percent targeted domestic audiences, while 21 percent targeted foreign countries. The remaining 15 percent of removed CIB networks were part of disinformation operations targeting audiences both home and abroad. Meta defines Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior as "coordinated efforts to manipulate public debate for a strategic goal where fake accounts are central to the operation."
