In a 2023 survey conducted among Australian consumers regarding greenwashing and sustainable fashion, around 73 percent of those surveyed indicated that they believe fashion brands are greenwashing to some extent when making claims about the sustainability of their products or services. Just shy of 30 percent of respondents said they think greenwashing is utilized regularly by fashion brands to make their products appear more environmentally friendly or ethically produced than they really are.
