Human development index of Africa 2021, by country
Compared to other African countries, Mauritius scored the highest in the Human Development Index (HDI) in 2021. The country also ranked 63rd globally, as one of the countries with a very high human development. This was followed by Seychelles, Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, with scores ranging from 0.79 to 0.72 points. On the other hand, Niger, Chad, and South Sudan were among the countries in the region with the lowest index scores, indicating a low level of human development.
